See you there!
Brandon Goldberg’s prowess, rooted understanding of the jazz tradition, and depth of emotiveness have earned him rightful acclaim as a savant within the national jazz scene. Only 18 years old, he has already performed at the Newport, Litchfield, Twin Cities, and Caramoor Jazz Festivals as well as the Monterey Jazz Festival. He has played on the stages of the most prestigious jazz clubs including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Dizzy’s Club, and the Birdland Theatre. We’re delighted to be presenting him in the acoustically friendly setting of the Common Room at Zion Lutheran Church, which has hosted music events of all stripe, from jazz vespers to choral, folk ensembles to strings orchestras. And now, the rising phenom Brandon Goldberg. He will be touring with his trio, appearing here direct from New York, on a CD release concert for his latest recording, “Live at Dizzy’s”.
Described by DownBeat as a pianist with “unassailable technique, advanced harmonic understanding, a deep sense of swing, and, most importantly, a clarity and plethora of ideas executed to near-perfection,” Brandon has time and time again proven his ability to conquer any gauntlet thrown before him. As Leonard Weinrich of London Jazz News said, Brandon's “artistic development has rendered his lack of years irrelevant.” We couldn’t agree more. Berkshires Jazz has been following this prodigy since he was 12 (when he appeared at Newport), and we finally had a chance to introduce him to the Berkshires in 2022, appearing before a full house at Ventfort Hall. Did you miss him then? Don’t lose this chance. It’s the opening concert in the “headline weekend” for this year’s Pittsfield CityJazz Festival.
Enjoy 13-year-old Brandon in this tribute to one of his inspirations, McCoy Tyner, in a 2019 appearance at Dizzy’s.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 on the day of the event. Don't miss out!
