Insight with Andrea Brachfeld represents a who’s-who of today’s jazz scene. The quartet is headed by the acclaimed award-winning flutist Andrea Brachfeld, and includes Bill O’Connell, piano; Harvie S, bass; and Jason Tiemann, drums. The concert will feature “If Not Now, When,” an original composition made possible by a grant from Chamber Music America.
Andrea’s first jazz gig was at age 16 when she assembled a quartet, wrote her own music, and played at “All Night Soul” at St. Peter’s Church in New York. From that point on, improvisation became a way of life, starting with the Jazzmobile workshops conducted by Dr. Billy Taylor. She has traveled and performed extensively, appearing in Cuba, Croatia, and a 2-and-a-half-year stint in Venezuela, among other places. In 2015, she was named the “Best Jazz Flutist” by Hot House Magazine.
The venue is the visually and acoustically stunning Saint James Place in Great Barrington, our favorite new venue in southern Berkshire County. Tickets are $25 in advance, and $30 on the day of the event.
The performance of the Andrea Brachfeld and Insight, presented in collaboration with The Jazz Loft and Riverview Jazz.org, is supported by Presenter Consortium for Jazz, a program of Chamber Music America, funded through the generosity of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
