The tenth anniversary of the Berkshire Gateway Jazz Weekend kicks-off with a concert by Michael Benedict and Bopitude, a swinging quintet that plays familiar tunes and uncovers hard-bop material that has had little or no exposure. Bringing a 21st century approach to this important era of Jazz, the group features a veritable who’s-who of New York capital-area artists, including Chris Pasin (trumpet); Brian Patneaude (tenor sax); David Gleason (piano); Mike Lawrence (bass); and Michael Benedict (drums and leader). “Taking some of the best jazz compositions of the mid 1950s to mid 1960s hard bop movement and placing them into a more modern context, drummer Michael Benedict leads an exciting band” (JazzAndBlues.com)
There’s not a bad seat in the house at the Lee Congregational Church, but don’t delay, seating is limited. We will follow Tri-Town Health Department pandemic protocol guidelines that will be in place at the time, and will remind ticket holders as the date draws nearer. Tickets are $35 on the day of the event. Masks are strongly recommended for our indoor events.
Enjoy Bopitude here. Better yet, enjoy them in person!
